Can we all agree that there’s not much better than ice cream or gelato when it’s warm out? Just a small scoop is all you need of this creamy Ice Cream with Pistachios and Gluten Free. It’s flavor is gentle but definitely present, combined with the rich texture of this uncooked ice cream, it’s heavenly.
Plus, we love pistachio nuts here. The flavor is so unique and unlike other nuts. The color of the nut is fresh, natural, and vibrant.
Favorite flavors of ice cream
There are a few flavors of ice cream that I’d have a hard time living without: coffee or espresso bean! But just behind that is pistachio ice cream. It’s for a long time been a favorite of mine. Now, I can eat this Ice Cream with Pistachios and Gluten Free and not have to worry if it contains hidden gluten. Pistachio ice cream is not a flavor many companies make, let alone finding it made gluten free. It’s often difficult to find labeling on ice cream, as well.
Subtle color, but nice flavor
Although it’s not as green as I’d originally hoped for, it does have nice pistachio flavor. And the color has hints of green, not intense, but instead a more natural yellow green color of the nut. You could always use a few drops of food color. I sometimes just prefer natural ingredients, and I didn’t have any green natural food color on hand.
Then you have the texture of this low sugar and gluten free ice cream.
Reusing containers
Question, does anyone else reuse the Talenti Gelato containers? We eat a lot of ice cream here, so I always have spare ones. They pack up and freeze homemade ice cream so nicely! Talenti makes some of the best ice cream also, for those days when homemade is not an option. Also, many of their flavors are labeled gluten free. They as well make some good dairy free options. Now on their website they have a side bar where you can select “gluten free”, “dairy free”, “egg free”, or even “new” to see all the options for that category!
Not dairy free but it is egg free
While this Ice Cream with Pistachios does contain dairy and cream, it doesn’t contain any eggs. It also has less processed sugars, replacing some of the sugars with pure maple syrup. Ice Cream with Pistachios and Gluten Free
Equipment
- 1 ice cream maker
Ingredients
- 1¾ cups heavy cream
- 1 ⅜ cups half and half
- ½ cup organic cane sugar or other white sugar
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- ½ cup roasted or roasted and salted pistachios, finely chopped or coarsely ground
- ¼ teaspoon salt (omit if using salted pistachios)
- ⅛ cup pistachios, roasted or roasted and salted, finely chopped to top the ice cream
Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, maple syrup, cream, milk, salt (if using unsalted pistachios), and ground pistachios. Refrigerate for 2-4 hours before processing according to ice cream maker's instructions for processing. Enjoy immediately or spoon into a container and freeze for 1-2 hours for a firmer texture.
